Coming to school every day is vital to ensuringeach pupil at Weavers Academy reaches their potential. Our target for allstudents is to reach 100% attendance every month – that means being here, ontime, every day.

Some amazing PRIDE values have been shown since September in Rugby PE lessons and Rugby elective Monday sessions, plus the fixtures against other schools.
It is great to see so many students getting involved and loving their rugby experience.
We had a brilliant training match with 30+ year 8+9’s a few week back to get them prepared for fixtures against other schools.
Year 9 then played Guilsborough and won with a powerful performance scoring 9 tries to Guilsborough’s 1. Year 8 also played Guilsborough who were a tough year 8 team to beat with two very fast young men who we could not quite seem to get hold of. Guilsborough beat us on that occasion.
This week we did a mixed year 8+9 match against Huxlow. In a wet and muddy affair we played with great determination and confidence. Weavers won scoring 4 tries to Huxlow’s 3. I was particularly proud of the year 8’s who got stuck in against the Huxlow mainly year 9 team. The Weavers year 9’s played and led the team very well showing great power and skill.
We have done lots of rugby in the boys PE lessons since September, unearthed some new exciting talent, and extended those who already knew how much of a brilliant game rugby can be when you get to grips with it. All the PE staff would like to say well done for all the brilliant effort in PE lessons and a special mention to all those who have played in the matches we have had. We are very proud to see them representing Weavers with such great PRIDE values.
We will be getting the Year 7 boys team going in January after their stint on curriculum PE rugby lessons. There is some exciting talent we have already found and I look forward to getting them playing full fixtures against other schools in the new year. The girls will start doing their curriculum PE rugby lessons as well in the new year, we will do some rugby fixtures for girls wanting to get stuck in as well.

Is your child not coming to school today?
All parents must notify us of absence before 8am on every day of absence.
We recognise that children get ill from time to time, but we must know where all students are if they are not in school.
Please use our school’s number to report absence – 01933 222830. Mrs Butlin, our Attendance Improvement Coordinator, will take your call and offer any support you may need.
Please ensure you leave enough specific detail for us to make an absence authorisation decision. If we require more information, we may call you back or visit home if we need more information.
The attendance team follow up every absence daily including minibus visits in the case of unexplained absence and welfare calls. If your son/daughters absence remains unexplained for the full day you will be automatically added to our safeguard and welfare checks which run from 7am-8am daily. Please always let us know if your child is not going to be at school.
