Weavers Academy Celebrates A-Level and GCSE Results
Students at Weavers Academy are celebrating their A-Level and GCSE outcomes and this year, STEAM subjects have particularly excelled. There are so many inspiring individual success stories as well - from top university offers to outstanding progress at GCSE, our students have demonstrated ambition, resilience and determination.
At A-Level, the academy has recorded its third consecutive annual increase in top grades (A–A*), alongside a rise in students achieving strong outcomes in vocational courses. Performance in STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, English, Arts and Maths)
Meanwhile, this year’s GCSE results reflect a similar story of determination and excellence. The proportion of students achieving strong passes (5+) in English and Maths has risen, with more students than ever securing top grades (9–7). Attainment has had particular strengths in Art and Design, PE, Music, Sciences, and Maths. The percentage of students achieving a grade 4+ in languages has also increased, reflecting the academy’s commitment to broad academic success.
Principal Jon Hunt said:
“These results reflect the determination, ambition, and resilience of our students. Our focus on STEAM subjects is paying off, but more importantly, these achievements represent the individual journeys of our young people, many of whom have overcome personal challenges to reach their goals. We could not be prouder of them and of our dedicated staff team.”
Weavers Academy is proud not only of its headline achievements, but also of the personal journeys and individual successes behind them. Many students have flourished academically while also embracing opportunities in music, sport, leadership, and community projects.
With many GCSE students choosing to continue into the Sixth Form, and A-Level leavers now heading to university, apprenticeships, and careers, the academy looks forward to supporting the next chapter of their journeys.
Stefan Xhani – Highest Achieving Student
Maths – A* | Chemistry – A | Physics – A | EPQ – B | Finance – B
Stefan achieved the highest grades in the cohort and will now study Maths and Physics at the University of Warwick.

The easiest way that I was able to support myself in my time at sixth form was simply by asking as many questions as I could (subject-related or not), no matter how ridiculous they were. Without them, chances are that I would've lost my bearings quite early into sixth form had I not asked (whenever I was doing practicals in chemistry and physics, I was notorious for asking questions on even the simplest of aspects). The times when weavers supported me without me having made the first move was in both setting up my UCAS application (that includes building my personal statement) and dealing with work experience. Personally, Miss Huett was by far the best help, not just practically, but mentally and emotionally as well, especially when dealing with work experience, as I am way more confident in my academic skills than my practical skills. Otherwise, Mrs Khan was a great aid in building my personal statement along with Miss Huett, and Mrs Cain was also helpful indirectly, with the use of assemblies on all things university (application, student finance, etc). Lastly, I'm also very fond of the university trips that we were able to go to during sixth form. It was through one of these trips where I encountered the University of Warwick's Mathematics and Physics course during a UCAS convention, which is the course that I now wish to study moving on.
Thea Amodio – Second Highest Achieving Student
Art – A* | Music – Distinction | Graphics – A | EPQ – C
Thea has an unconditional offer to study Interior Architecture and Spatial Design at the University of Northampton, and is being celebrated as our second highest achieving student this summer.

My experience in Weavers may have been shorter than some a I joined in year 10, but throughout the years I’ve had some constants who supported me all the way. I’d like to thank Miss Reading who was always there for me and saw my potential to grow as a musician and performer. She pushed me further than I’ve ever thought possible but It’s because she never failed to believe in me as well as others. The musical opportunities helped me grow confidence and made me who I am today, all thanks to Miss Reading and her remarkable dedication. I’d also like to thank Mr Cullen-Downes who helped me grow as an artist and steer me towards my goals and dreams for my career and future. Even though I never took part in art subjects before Weavers, he saw my potential and encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone. Thanks to him I achieved the results I aimed for. I wouldn’t be who I am today without the support and encouragement I had. I am forever grateful to everyone in Weavers who believed in me and pushed me to reach my goals.
Wiktor Lykowski – Most Progress Made
Finance – A | Business – Distinction | Photography – B | Medical Science – C | EPQ – C
Wiktor exceeded his target score by 72 points, securing an unconditional place to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Northampton.

In year 12, I was learning Medical science, Photography and Business studies. Additionally, I was doing finance as well as EPQ. As I have progressed to year 13 my core subjects slightly shifted, I have stopped my medical science and accepted it as an AS level and instead took finance full time. Throughout the entirety of Sixth Form I was supported in numerous methods, First of I would like to thank the teachers who have proven to be extraordinary, especially this year such as Mr Jain, Miss Huett and Miss Bowman as well as any other staff members who supported me directly and indirectly. Additionally I would like to say thank you to Mrs Cain who was a great support for all thing related to post 18 career plans as well as anything to do with jobs, apprenticeships and university advice.
Finally, I want to mention all the side opportunities I had during those years such as the ECF (Early careers foundation) mentoring which was an amazing 2-year program which helped me build confidence and strategy for future career endeavours. Work experience week which was provide to us at the end of year 12. This allowed me to build limited, but equally valuable experience that helps with CV building and UCAS applications. Lastly, numerous trips for university open days, UCAS experiences/exhibitions and more, organised by Mrs Khan and Mrs Solanki. That was a great way to find out more about my options after sixth form and it helped me make up my mind about which 5 out of 166 UK universities I wanted to apply for. My plans now are to study Accounting and Finance at University of Northampton as well as carry out a placement year. With my results, I had many alternative pathways I could have chosen but I decided that staying close to family and friends was a good choice for me.
Shanuga Sivarajah
Seven grade 9s, two grade 8s

Shanuga has impressed staff with her exceptional work ethic and determination throughout her time at Weavers Academy. Conscientious and self-motivated, she regularly asked for extra work, handed it in alongside her class studies, and sought weekly feedback to push herself further. She also went above and beyond with independent research, attended exam masterclasses and extra lessons, and even used YouTube study resources to strengthen her knowledge. A French film trip proved both a reward and a valuable boost to her listening skills, while a range of leadership roles and other enrichment opportunities helped her grow in confidence.
Shanuga is particularly proud of the way she improved her mock results, and now looks ahead with ambition to study Medicine while staying on at Weavers Sixth Form. Reflecting on her journey, she said: “I’ve always tried to go the extra mile with my studies, whether that meant taking on extra work, learning from mistakes, or using every support available. The calm environment at Weavers and the encouragement from staff have really helped me improve, and I’m excited to take the next steps towards my dream of studying Medicine.”
James Kelland
Six grade 9s, three grade 8s.

James is predicted to be one of the highest achievers on GCSE results day. Throughout his time at Weavers, he has taken every opportunity available: completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award, performing in multiple music groups, competing in the Rotary Music Festival, going on the ski trip, and attending subject masterclasses.
“I’m most proud of being awarded Student of the Year in Year 10, and the grades and test results I’ve been getting for my GCSEs. I’m staying at Weavers for Sixth Form because it feels welcoming and has helped me grow in confidence, especially in music performances.”
Lonny Williams
Two grade 9s, six grade 8s, one grade 7

Lonny’s success is the result of pure hard work, determination and commitment. Known for building strong relationships with his teachers, he consistently listened to advice and acted on it, while also encouraging those around him. Mature and reliable, Lonny took advantage of every opportunity to improve his learning — from attending all Excellence Hours and masterclasses to making the most of additional support sessions. A talented linguist, he balanced his studies with generosity of spirit, often thanking staff for their hard work and guidance. Beyond the classroom, Lonny embraced a wide range of opportunities: from helping to repaint the local underpass as part of community work, to coordinating drop-down days, delivering assemblies, and taking a leading role in ‘Speak Your Mind’ for Black students. He represented the academy at a multi-school sports day, engaged with national figures such as Gen Kitchen MP, Bridget Phillipson MP and Angela Essel, and even collaborated with a West End designer on Shakespeare costume and set design.
Reflecting on his journey, Lonny said: “Weavers introduced Excellence Hour, which gave me the opportunity to speak with teachers one-to-one or work independently in the right environment. On top of that, the masterclasses before exams were a huge help. The school has given me so many opportunities that have helped me grow — from leadership roles to community projects — but what I’m most proud of are the friends I’ve made and the support network here. The teachers are incredibly supportive, which is why I’m staying on at Weavers Sixth Form.”
