Weavers Staff Member Leads Data Team at Prestigious International Lifesaving Event

While many were enjoying a quiet weekend, Weavers Academy’s own Mr Oliver Coleman was at the heart of a major international sporting event – the Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships – where he played a key leadership role in ensuring the smooth running of the competition.
Mr Coleman spent the weekend leading the data and technical services team, a crucial part of the championships’ operations. His responsibilities included handling the recording of results and start lists, processing those results, and ensuring they were displayed efficiently in the venue, through media streams and elsewhere – all to enable the event to run seamlessly.

Speaking about his role, Mr Coleman said:
“It’s with great honour, privilege and excitement that I lead the data and technical services team for this Commonwealth event. It’s amazing to work with those from around the world, sharing best practice and ideas.”
His contribution did not go unnoticed. Teressa Myatt, Event Director, praised his expertise and commitment:
“We know Oliver and the team he leads will provide results and technical service to rival that of any championships around the world. We are very proud and lucky to have his 20 years of data and technical management knowledge and leadership for these championships.”

The event also received royal recognition. HRH Prince Michael of Kent expressed his appreciation, stating:
“Thanks to all those organising these championships for their hard work and dedication to the drowning prevention message. I know that RLSS UK will be a great host to the Commonwealth lifesaving family.”

At Weavers Academy, we are incredibly proud of Mr Coleman’s contribution to such an important and high-profile event. His dedication, leadership, and technical skill are a credit to both the lifesaving community and our school.
