Curriculum Intent

The Level 3 Extended Project Qualification is one of the enrichment courses that we offer our sixth form students.

The AQA Level 3 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at Weavers Academy develops independent, motivated learners who are equipped with the skills required for success in higher education and future careers. Through the completion of a substantial self-directed project, students explore a topic of personal interest in depth, extending their subject knowledge and academic curiosity beyond the taught curriculum.

Students demonstrate Productivity by planning, managing and completing a long-term project to a high academic standard, meeting deadlines and responding effectively to feedback. Respect is developed through ethical research practices, accurate referencing, and consideration of diverse perspectives and viewpoints.

The EPQ places strong emphasis on Independence, requiring students to take ownership of their learning, make informed decisions and reflect critically on their progress. Determination is fostered as students overcome challenges, refine their ideas and sustain commitment over an extended period of study.

High levels of Engagement are encouraged through regular tutorials, presentations and reflection, ensuring students are active participants in their learning journey. Ultimately, the EPQ at Weavers Academy equips students with advanced research, critical thinking and communication skills, preparing them for the demands of university study, apprenticeships and professional pathways.
